This interactive event will explore the basic components of the well baby physical examination and history in the neonatal period prior to hospital discharge. Common neonatal abnormalities and their management will be outlined including components of well baby care and their rationale in the hospital setting.
Elements of parental anticipatory guidance as well as red flags for paediatric referral will be discussed with the audience. A question and answer session will follow the didactic portion.
This event will be of interest to family practice physicians, nurse practitioners, and nurses.

Presented in cooperation with the Community Oncology Program at CancerCare Manitoba, and the University of Manitoba, Cancer Day for Primary Care is a biennial full day education symposium dedicated to topics at the interface of primary care and oncology. This year, topics will focus on Immunotherapy and will include lectures and panel presentations to provide attendees with practical and relevant information about curative-intent and palliative therapy for breast and gastrointestinal cancers, workup and support services for pediatric cancer patients.

This two-day course starts with a review of the primary and secondary surveys and initial resuscitation including ample time to practice applying concepts learned. Delivery of the course consists of team-based high-fidelity simulation sessions, which are interspersed with short, small group, interactive case-based or didactic sessions and technical skills sessions for practicing procedures. Topics include head injury, airway management, upper body injuries, abdominal trauma, imaging interpretation and much more.
A certified instructor is provided for each module. The participant-to-instructor ratio is typically 6:1 or lower during the technical skills and simulation sessions.
Space is limited to a total of 24 participants in the provider course.

These webinars are recordings of live educational webinar sessions that focus on topics related to the care of patients in personal care homes (PCH) early in the COVID-19 pandemic. The sessions were presented live to practitioners providing care to PCH residents within the Prairie Mountain Health Region in Manitoba. As part of our efforts to ensure the health and safety of our community, staff, students and faculty, and in alignment with University of Manitoba policy, effective Tuesday September 14, 2021 anyone visiting the Bannatyne Campus will be required to provide proof of vaccination (vaccination card or QR code) before entering the campus.
CPD Event attendees without swipe card access may access the Bannatyne campus via the Brodie Centre main doors, 727 McDermot Avenue from 5:30 am – 5:30 pm. If you do not have a vaccination card or QR code you may still come onto campus for in-person activity; however, you will require a negative asymptomatic test prior to entering. UM requires that masks be worn, and physical distancing to be practiced. Please contact the CPD office regarding any concerns.
