Implantable Birth Control Insertion and Prenatal Care

Implantable Birth Control Insertion and Prenatal Care focuses on practical reproductive and prenatal care. Participants will learn about the indications, safety, and effectiveness of implantable contraception devices in Canada, along with counselling techniques for side effects and complications. Hands-on practice will cover proper insertion and post-insertion care. The session also highlights the importance of prenatal and antenatal care, including key assessments and common complications, and emphasizes how to educate clients on the benefits of breastfeeding.

Opioid Agonist Therapy 101: Introduction to Clinical Practice

The We Will Take Good Care of the People Indigenous Cultural Safety Training is an Indigenous-led cultural safety program designed to address racism, improve healthcare outcomes, and foster culturally safe environments for Indigenous peoples in Manitoba. The 10-module course is tailored for healthcare workers and learners, leveraging the knowledge and expertise of local Indigenous Knowledge Keepers and healthcare leaders. It incorporates foundational knowledge about Indigenous health, the impacts of colonization, the concepts of anti-racism, and cultural safety, while offering practical skills to equip healthcare workers to provide more racially just and culturally safe health care to Indigenous Peoples.

Life Saving Courses

Our PALS Provider course will help you to develop individual skills – as a member of a healthcare team – in simulated real-life situations that mirror your work life in which you’ll need to recognize and respond to cardiopulmonary arrests or other cardiovascular emergencies involving pediatric patients.

ACoRN

November, 2025

Location: UM Bannatyne: Brodie Centre: Room-000, Clinical Learning & Simulation Facility

The Acute Care of at-Risk Newborns Program (ACoRN) is a Canadian Program designed to teach neonatal stabilization, support the multidisciplinary team, and identify and care for babies who become unwell or are at risk of becoming unwell in the first few hours or days after birth and, where necessary, preparation for transport to a referral facility

ACoRN introduces knowledge and skills sequentially, using a case-based approach. It is designed to be useful regardless of a condition’s complexity or how frequently a practitioner is called upon to manage specific conditions.

Note: Participants must complete the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) course before taking ACoRN

ATLS is a vital educational program created by the American College of Surgeons, designed to equip medical professionals with essential skills for managing trauma patients.
