This two-day course starts with a review of the primary and secondary surveys and initial resuscitation including ample time to practice applying concepts learned. Delivery of the course consists of team-based high-fidelity simulation sessions, which are interspersed with short, small group, interactive case-based or didactic sessions and technical skills sessions for practicing procedures. Topics include head injury, airway management, upper body injuries, abdominal trauma, imaging interpretation and much more.
A certified instructor is provided for each module. The participant-to-instructor ratio is typically 6:1 or lower during the technical skills and simulation sessions.
Space is limited to a total of 24 participants in the provider course.

Presented by Dr. Marina Reineke, the 2021 CPD Medicine University of Manitoba Educator of the Year, this two-day intensive workshop will arm you with new knowledge and skills around opioid addiction and the resources available to support this vulnerable patient population. This workshop is a prerequisite training requirement in order to prescribe or dispense methadone and buprenorphine/naloxone in Manitoba.

NEW COURSE! Free Registration
This 2-hour online learning module, co-developed with MPI, discusses practitioner responsibilities, communication strategies and rules related to operating vehicles. Example cases review a variety of medical presentations including dementia, cardiac disease, seizures, recreational drugs, and mental health. Current Manitoba legislation, practitioner responsibilities, resources for driver assessment and best practices are addressed. This learning module will be of interest to family physicians, specialist physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and psychologists.

As part of our efforts to ensure the health and safety of our community, staff, students and faculty, and in alignment with University of Manitoba policy, effective Tuesday September 14, 2021 anyone visiting the Bannatyne Campus will be required to provide proof of vaccination (vaccination card or QR code) before entering the campus.
CPD Event attendees without swipe card access may access the Bannatyne campus via the Brodie Centre main doors, 727 McDermot Avenue from 5:30 am – 5:30 pm. If you do not have a vaccination card or QR code you may still come onto campus for in-person activity; however, you will require a negative asymptomatic test prior to entering. UM requires that masks be worn, and physical distancing to be practiced. Please contact the CPD office regarding any concerns.
