Important: We're taking a break
With the summer months in full swing, we are hard at work getting the 2024- 2025 season of CPD programming planned and finalized for all of you. We are always striving to make our programs and services the best they can be, and so we've decided to take a little break from sending the CPD Medicine Weekly Newsletter.

This will be the last newsletter until Friday August 9, 2024. At that time, we will return better than ever to keep you updated on all the programs you can attend to earn your credits and learn new skills this fall.

In the meantime, don't forget to check the cpd-umanitoba.ca website for details about summer programs or to stay in the loop.

We'd like to thank everyone who helped make the 2023 - 2024 season such a smashing success, and we are looking forward to seeing you again come the fall!

The Acute Care of at-Risk Newborns (ACoRN) Program is a distinguished initiative from Canada, meticulously crafted to impart knowledge on neonatal stabilization. It serves as a robust support system for the multidisciplinary team, enabling them to identify and provide care for newborns who may become unwell or are at risk within the initial hours or days post-birth. The program also prepares the team for potential transport to a specialized referral facility when necessary.

ACoRN adopts a sequential approach to knowledge and skill acquisition, utilizing case-based learning. Its design ensures its utility across a spectrum of conditions, irrespective of their complexity or the frequency with which a practitioner encounters them. This makes ACoRN an invaluable resource for medical professionals dedicated to the care of newborns. Join us in our mission to improve neonatal care and outcomes.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program
The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) introduces concepts and basic skills of neonatal resuscitation in an intensive all-day program.
The program structure features a wide variety of learning techniques, including:
  1. Hands-On Skills Training: Dive into practical techniques that empower you to act swiftly and confidently during critical moments.

  2. Simulation-Based Learning: Immerse yourself in lifelike scenarios, where every decision matters. Sharpen your instincts and hone your reflexes.

  3. Debriefing with Experts: Meet with the neonatal resuscitation team to discuss and evaluate your skills.
