St. Boniface Hospital treats over 2,000 heart attack patients annually. The Manitoba ACS Network works to improve outcomes by ensuring all heart attack patients across the province receive optimal, guideline-based, and safe care.

Learning Objectives

  • Describe the development of and rationale behind CBTm classes for mood, anxiety, and posttraumatic stress symptoms/disorder.

  • Identify strategies that the CBTm Hub Team used to date in implementing CBTm classes in sites across Canada (primary care, military, veterans, and self-help organizations) on reducing wait times and improving mental health symptoms.

  • Demonstrate how the CBTm content has been adapted for use with a range of populations, such as public safety personnel, youth, and Indigenous populations.

  • State strategies to incorporate symptom measures and monitoring of outcomes during the classes.

  • Outline opportunities to engage clients/patients in a research study evaluating a free web-based, self-directed CBTm course.

  • Complete 7.25 hours of training in CBTm class content.

This 2-hour module covers practitioner responsibilities, communication strategies, and rules for operating vehicles with various medical conditions. It’s relevant for family physicians, specialists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and psychologists.

College of Pharmacists of Manitoba Pharmacy Jurisprudence Modules

The College of Pharmacists of Manitoba (CPhM) Pharmacy Jurisprudence Modules provide a strong foundation in provincial and federal pharmacy jurisprudence.

These self-study modules must be completed by all new CPhM applicants, including pharmacists (domestically and internationally educated), interns, and pharmacy technicians-in-training before they can write the CPhM Jurisprudence Examination (JP exam).

Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)

ATLS is a vital educational program created by the American College of Surgeons, designed to equip medical professionals with essential skills for managing trauma patients. This program offers a systematic approach to trauma care, emphasizing early assessment, resuscitation, stabilization, and definitive treatment.

Our PALS Provider course will help you to develop individual skills – as a member of a healthcare team – in simulated real-life situations that mirror your work life in which you’ll need to recognize and respond to cardiopulmonary arrests or other cardiovascular emergencies involving pediatric patients.

Prerequisites:

Current Heart & Stroke Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider

PALS Precourse Self-Assessment Certificate

Acute Care of at-Risk Newborns (ACoRN)

The Acute Care of at-Risk Newborns Program (ACoRN) is a Canadian program that teaches neonatal stabilization, supports the multidisciplinary team, and helps identify and care for newborns at risk of becoming unwell in the first hours or days after birth, including preparing for transport to a referral facility when needed. Using a case-based approach, ACoRN introduces knowledge and skills sequentially, ensuring it is valuable regardless of condition complexity or how often practitioners manage specific cases.
