Neonatal Resuscitation Program
The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) introduces concepts and basic skills of neonatal resuscitation in an intensive all-day program. 
The program structure features a wide variety of learning techniques, including:
  1. Hands-On Skills Training: Dive into practical techniques that empower you to act swiftly and confidently during critical moments.

  2. Simulation-Based Learning: Immerse yourself in lifelike scenarios, where every decision matters. Sharpen your instincts and hone your reflexes.

  3. Debriefing with Experts: Meet with the neonatal resuscitation team to discuss and evaluate your skills.

8:00 a.m. – 8:10 a.m. — Welcome and introductions

8:10 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. — How the day works and completion of paperwork

8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. — Divide into teams and rotate to skills stations.

The 16th biennial Cancer Day for Primary Care is a collaboration between the Community Oncology Program at Cancer Care Manitoba and the University of Manitoba. This year, the event will be using a hybrid model, offering both virtual and in-person attendance options at Theater B, 727 McDermot Ave, University of Manitoba.

The focus will be on Genitourinary Cancers, covering topics from Prostate to Renal, Urothelial, Testicular, and Bladder cancers, including screening, work-up, and systemic therapy. 

  1. Understand Decision-Making Processes: Gain insight into the decision-making processes for surgical management, radiation therapy, and systemic therapy of Genitourinary cancers.

  2. Enhance Quality of Life: Explore interventions that enhance the quality of life for specific patient populations.

  3. Diagnostic Work-Up Skills: Acquire the necessary skills to perform diagnostic work-ups for suspected Genitourinary Cancers in Manitoba.

  4. Cancer Navigation Services: Familiarize yourself with the services offered by Cancer Navigation Services and learn when and how to reach out to them.

  5. Complication Management: Identify and manage acute complications associated with cancer and various therapeutic approaches.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with Mindfulness (CBTm) is a skill-based educational program designed to help build resilience and improve mental wellbeing through evidence-based self-management strategies. 

This course will teach the key cognitive and behavioural concepts and how to apply them with your clients/patients. You'll leave with the knowledge and resources to deliver the CBTm program in group settings or on an individual basis with your clients.

About the Trainers

Shay-Lee Bolton, PhD

Dr. Shay-Lee Bolton is an early career researcher, epidemiologist, and co-lead of the CBTm Hub. She is an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Community Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba.

Cheryl Maxsom, MSW RSW

Cheryl Maxsom has over 20 years of therapy experience with individuals, couples, and groups, specializing in traumatic stress. She is a Clinical Specialist with CBTm in Shared Health as well as a lecturer in the Rady Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba.

Pamela Holens, PhD

Dr. Pamela Holens has over 20 years of experience providing psychological services, with 13 years of specialization in the areas of traumatic stress and chronic pain. She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Clinical Health Psychology in the Rady Faculty of Medicine at the University of Manitoba, as well as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Psychology. 

Tanya Sala, MD

Dr. Tanya Sala is a Psychiatrist at Health Sciences Centre and Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry. She serves as the Medical Director of the Mood & Anxiety Disorders Program and of the Student Mental Health Service at Bannatyne Campus.

Natalie Mota, PhD

Dr. Natalie Mota is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Clinical Psychologist at the Operational Stress Injury Clinic in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
