Learning Objectives

  • Enhance knowledge and skill for PCP. Gain up-to-date knowledge about the latest guidelines, diagnostic techniques, and treatment options for various allergic and immunology conditions.

  • Improve patient care by having PCPs better equipped to identify, diagnose, and manage allergic conditions effectively. This can lead to more accurate referrals, timely interventions, and better overall patient outcomes.

  • Give PCPs increased confidence in managing allergies which can reduce the need for unnecessary referrals and enable PCPs to manage mild-to-moderate cases independently.

  • Provide forum for Interdisciplinary Collaboration to allow interaction between local PCPs and specialists.

This skill workshop will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of intrauterine devices (IUDs) available in Canada, including their characteristics, cost, and availability. Participants will learn to differentiate between the various types of IUDs, such as copper and hormonal options, and understand the appropriate indications for each, considering factors such as patient age, medical history, and reproductive goals. The workshop will also cover essential patient counselling techniques, focusing on how to inform patients about potential complications, such as infection or expulsion, as well as common side effects like changes in menstrual bleeding. Additionally, the session will include hands-on training in IUD insertion, with guidance on proper technique and strategies for managing difficult insertions to ensure safe and effective placement.

Attending the Perinatal Period session offers an invaluable opportunity for healthcare professionals to deepen their understanding of key maternal and fetal health concerns. You will learn how to recognize and manage the risk of kidney disease during pregnancy, an often overlooked but critical aspect of prenatal care. Gain practical skills to manage initial prenatal care using a new, easy-to-use prenatal worksheet, ensuring you’re providing the best start for your patients.
