This Sunday @ UCC:
Guest Minister: Magie Cook
Lesson Title: The Other Side of Grace
|
|
Inspired by “I Made Room for Grace” by Sue Riley:
When I stumble, I won’t be defeated, since I make room for grace.
I stop resisting. I make room for grace.
I just step aside, open up a space, and make room for grace.
Now the blessings arrive every day, since I made room for grace. |
| | | Magie Cook started her salsa company with a gift of $800 while she was homeless. Despite no experience in business, she grew Maggie’s All Natural Fresh Salsa’s & Dips into a multi-million dollar company over the course of 4 years and sold it to Campbell’s Soup at a $231 million value in 2015. Today Magie uses her experience to empower others, helping them to grow as mindful and prosperous entrepreneurs and leaders.
Magie grew up in an orphanage, feeding her 68 “brothers and sisters” with meat that she hunted with a short knife, one of the few possessions she had. She taught herself to play basketball, seeing it as a possible path to a better life. She won an athletic scholarship to the University of Charleston, but was unable to find a job after graduating, leaving her in a familiar scenario – surviving in the forest and on the streets.
With the encouragement of friends, Magie entered and won a salsa-making contest, procuring an $800 gift from someone who had tried her salsa. Through hard work and passion, she expanded her company nationwide, building partnerships with Walmart, Whole Foods, and several other supermarkets until her products were available in 38 states.
After selling her company, Magie turned her focus to speaking, coaching, and helping Mexican orphans. For five years she served as the US Program Director of the Give New Life Orphanage, rescuing 31 Mexican children from the Cartel and sex trade.

| | | Looking for a way to help the people of the Bahamas? Below are a couple of organizations yo might consider:
There are many drop off locations in Tampa Bay including Walker Ford & Bob's Carpet Marts
An excerpt of a powerful poem by Maya Angelou, hereby included in tribute to the recovery process of all individuals, families, and communities struck by recent storms:
For the people of Bahamas and all peoples who rise up and rebuild after seemingly devastating losses . . . . You will come through this.
Still I Rise Maya Angelou
"Just like moons and like suns, With the certainty of tides, Just like hopes springing high, Still I’ll rise . . . .
Still, like air, I’ll rise . . . .
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear I rise Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear I rise . . . . I rise. I rise. I rise." |
| | New Class: You've Always Had the Power
|
| Tuesdays 7:00 PM
Café
“You’ve always had the power, my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself.” – Glinda (The Good Witch), The Wizard of Oz
Great advice! But how do we learn it for ourselves?
With Eric Butterworth's classic book, Discover the Power within You as a foundation for this new class we will look at answering that question. We'll explore how we can use thought, feeling and out-formation to manifest the ALLNESS of God.
In addition to Discover the Power within You Judy will lead us through other texts that guide us in knowing ourselves.
“Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; Mastering yourself is true power.” - Lao Tzu, Chinese Taoist Philosopher |

| | | | People “have the idea that material substance is limited, and they engage in competition trying to grab one another's money. Divine Mind has ideas of substance as unlimited and everywhere present, equally available to all. Since [humanity’s] work is to express substance ideas in material form, we must find a way to connect ideas of substance with ideas of material expression, to adjust the ideas of [our] mind with the ideas of Divine Mind. This is accomplished by faith through prayer.
That part of the Lord's Prayer which reads, ‘Give us this day our daily bread,’ is more correctly translated, ‘Give us today the substance of tomorrow's bread.’ By prayer we accumulate in our mind ideas of God as the substance of our supply and support. There is no lack of this substance in infinite Mind. Regardless of how much God gives, there is always an abundance left. God does not give us material things, but Mind substance--not money but ideas--ideas that set spiritual forces in motion so that things begin to come to us by the application of the law”
(Charles Fillmore Cofounder of the Unity Movement in Prosperity [1936] -- Lesson Two: Spiritual Mind, the Omnipresent Directive Principle of Prosperity). |
| Your Weekly Prosperity Affirmation:
“GOD SUPPLIES ME WITH INFINITE ABUNDANCE OF CREATIVE IDEAS WHICH ACCUMULATE IN MY MIND AND EXPRESS AS AN ABUNDANCE OF EVERY GOOD THING.”
THANK YOU, GOD! |
