This Sunday @ UCC: Living Water - Leddy Hammock
|
|
When I pray, my mind is shadow-free as noon day and my soul is resting, resting by the well of Spirit.
Everyone is my teacher and I am teachable, but I want more than facts.
I thirst for deeper understanding. O, give me Truth, that living water.
The Christ Spirit that is alive in each of us, no matter where we’ve been or what we’ve done, is that living water.
O, bless the water, bless that living water!

| | Class: In the Beginning....
|
|
 | Tue, Mar 16 - Apr 20 7:30 PM Café
Are you curious about the Bible? Is the Bible opinion or Truth? What do you believe? Was Daniel really in the lion’s den? Did Noah build an ark?
To explore answers to these questions and more, join The Reverend Grace DeBella for a new class titled, “In the Beginning…”
This Old Testament study is based on the belief of Unity Co-founders, Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, that the Bible is to be individually interpreted and personally applied. We will use the text, Let There Be Light by Elizabeth Sand Turner (who served Unity as educational director of the ministerial school and who ministered in Unity churches in both Tennessee and Florida). Turner is best known as the author of the trilogy of books that metaphysically (allegorically) interprets the Bible: Let There Be Light (1954), Your Hope of Glory (1959) and Be Ye Transformed (1969). (Additional handouts will be made available.)
Everyone is welcome to join in our journey us as we get in shape spiritually, renew our minds, and explore how our Bible helps us answer, “What do I believe?” Love offerings are appreciated, but no one is turned away on account of funds.
The class fulfills the Bible requirement for those seeking Prayer Chaplaincy!
To be perfectly centered for the class, plan to attend the Wednesday evening Prayer and Meditation Service at 7:00!

| | | Heart of the House: Trina Anderson
|
| | In 1994, a job transfer brought Florida native Trina Anderson to Clearwater or Tampa from Atlanta where she had worked with Xerox. Following another transfer request to Dallas in 2001, she chose to change employment and stay in Florida. Her parents live in the Cape Canaveral area. There, her mother attends Unity, and in late 1998, Trina consulted the yellow pages looking for a Unity church. She has been a regular attendee at UCC ever since.
Born in New Smyrna, Trina graduated from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green with a degree in Spanish and History. In her sophomore year, summer study in Madrid enriched her fluency in Spanish. Throughout her employment history, Trina has seldom experienced the opportunity to apply the focus of her majors. One exception, perhaps the favorite of all the positions she’s held, occurred after she married her college boyfriend and moved with him to Lafayette, LA, where a job offer awaited him. It was there, where she lived for eight years, that she loved her work as a social worker for the state of Louisiana.

| | Thank You Suze Forever Moore!
|
| | SUSAN (FOREVER) MOORE is an amazing artist whose works also grace Unity Church of Lawrence, Kansas. We are blessed to have her here in our congregation at Unity of Clearwater! (See the beautiful "winged" project she designed for a recent WINGS meeting, and also the original designs for the Courtyard murals, on display in our Café.) Last Spring, when our Youth of Unity expressed interest in painting a mural here at the Church, she and Leddy began to share ideas about using the seven main panels of space in our Unity Courtyard to depict the seven days (phases) of the creative process, as outlined in the Book of Genesis. (See Mysteries of Genesis by Unity Cofounder, Charles Fillmore.) After sharing ideas with Leddy, Susan conceptualized the amazing murals that she outlined ingeniously in grid patterns for our wonderful Y.O.U. to bring to life with color, under her guidance, last Summer. (We are now in process of creating a brochure about these vibrant murals!) We are so grateful to Susan for giving of her time, inspiration, expertise, and creativity to create these beautiful murals. In expression of our congregation's appreciation, this engraved brick has just been put in place in our Prayer Walkway in her honor!
|
| | As
another way of blessing our Youth Ministry, Susan (Forever) Moore asked
to bringing a lovely collection of prints of her wonderful artwork.
These works, including studies of the human body temple, would normally
be valued at much higher costs, but Susan agreed to offer them in our
bookstore this Sunday at a suggested offering of $20 each, with all
proceeds going to our Youth Ministry (half to fund projects of our
elementary grade Youth Ministry and half to help fund our upcoming Unity
Society Y.O.U. Spring Rally). We are thrilled! Those blessed to
acquire these prints will want to have them matted and framed to enjoy
at their homes and offices! Thank you Susan -- Forever Moore! |
| | | The Gulf Oil Spill happened in April of 2010.
Slightly more than a year after, we found it necessary, as did the UU Church across the street, to return to one Sunday service after having had two services each Sunday for more than 30 years.
A few years ago, our Board of Directors at that time advised that a claim regarding BP Oil be filed with an attorney.
We do not know if there will be any results of that claim or not. But at this time, we are asking that if anyone here has been a supporter of this ministry for more than five years, and feels that his/her attendance, contributions, were impacted because his or her own finances were impacted, directly or indirectly, by the Gulf Oil Spill, s/he should definitely share the personal account with me or Russ in person, on the phone, or by mail or email asap.

| | | | “One business woman was out of harmony with a number of her friends. As she began dwelling on affirmations of love, her friends began appearing unexpectedly at the grayer group meetings, and reconciliation quickly took place. Another businesswoman had been troubled for some time because of a misunderstanding that had arisen months previously between her and some friends. She had made every effort to apologize and bring about harmony and understanding again, but she had been coldly rebuffed in spite of her letters, telephone calls, and personal contacts. One night during the regular prayer time as the group was affirming divine love for the names on the prayer lists, this woman and one other woman in the group both heard a popping noise in the air. The other woman discounted it, thinking it to be only her imagination. But after the meeting had concluded, the businesswoman came to her and confidentially said: ‘Did you hear that popping sound in the air? That wasn’t your imagination: it really happened! That was the hard thoughts that have existed between me and my friends. I’m convinced that tonight, through our spoken words, divine love dissolved the hard thoughts and the inharmony that have existed between us. That was the dissolving power of love that you heard healing that situation!’”
(Catherine Ponder in The Prospering Power of Love [Unity School of Christianity, 1966]
Your Weekly Prosperity Affirmation: "THE DISSOLVING POWER OF LOVE HEALS EVERY HARD SITUATION." THANK YOU, GOD!
