We Are So Grateful! |
|
|
|
|
|
We continue working to find a local architect and engineer that can work with us to keep the project moving forward.
We remain very grateful for the steadfast faith of all those whose gifts of
love and substance sustain our Church during this time of transition.
We are very glad to welcome old friends and new friends on Sundays on our
home campus. Watch this space as we give thanks together that God is clearing the way for us to go forward.
Our
beautiful new Church Home is being built for us in wisdom, love, and
divine timing and we are ready to receive it!

This Sunday: Leddy Hammock - Lead, Kindly Light |
|
Highlights:
Inspired by lyrics to “God Is” by Rich Fagan based on the “Prayer for Protection” by James Dillet Freeman:
“In the morning when I rise and before I close my eyes, Anytime I’m in despair, I just speak this little prayer --
When the cold winds start to blow and they beat upon your door, Every night will have its dawn, hold this thought as you hold on --
We all hear the Spirit call. It’s a small world after all. Bound together in and through this one common, simple Truth:
God’s light surrounds us, God’s love enfolds us; God’s power protects us; The presence of God watches over us; Wherever we are, GOD IS!”
*Leddy loves these school ecosystem displays, but don't touch that cacti 😂 |

Last Sunday's Shining Words:
“Some seed fell on rich soil, and produced fruit…” (Mt 13:8).
Whatever’s meant to soar will soar. We are planting seeds, nothing more. |

Welcome Simon Lasky UCC's New Band Leader |
|
|
British jazz pianist/composer, Simon Lasky, has received major awards for his music in the U.S. and the U.K., including a 2018 “British Composer Award, two 2024 Creative Loafing “Best of The Bay Awards,” a 2025 “Palladium Creative Fellowship”
and regular endorsements from the International Society of Jazz
Arrangers & Composers; his music has been selected for many high
profile presentations.
The three albums featuring Simon as leader
showcase dozens of compositions for jazz ensembles. His music has been
performed in London’s Barbican Hall and Wigmore Hall and broadcast
extensively on BBC radio and NPR. He has performed and recorded with
leading jazz artists from the U.S. and European jazz scenes.
Simon
relocated from London, England to Tampa, Florida in 2018 on the receipt
of a Fellowship to study jazz composition at the University of South
Florida with multiple GRAMMY nominated big band composer, Chuck Owen.
Simon has performed in New York City jazz clubs, Florida jazz festivals,
and he has led his Tampa Bay based jazz group in sold-out concerts
throughout South and Central Florida. In demand as a soloist and a
lecturer, Simon has also been an Adjunct Faculty Music Professor at the
University of South Florida and Hillsborough Community College. Simon
was recommended to us by the wonderful Rebecca Zapen, violinist extraordinaire and Music Director at Unity of St. Petersburg; Rebecca, has played for many events at Congregation Beth Shalom, our beloved friends and interfaith partners who kindly sheltered our UCC Sunday services most weeks for many months of our wanderings over the past two years. Our beloved Sue Riley reached out to Rebecca, who is Music Director at Unity of St. Petersburg – which, interestingly, was the Church that invited Leddy to Florida in 1979! We believe that there are no accidents and we are brought together in Unity by divine appointment.
Please know that we feel truly blessed, to say, with all our hearts, “Welcome, Simon!” |

Wednesday Evening Spiritual Treatment |
|
Wednesdays
7:00-7:30 PM
Teach Us to Pray was written by Charles Fillmore (Cofounder of the Unity Movement) and his second wife, Cora (a leader in Silent Unity and in Unity's Correspondence School and a beloved teacher of prayer). Cora Fillmore contributed a large number of the affirmations, lesson plans, and instructional chapters in this volume. As we follow the lessons together, we see that prayer is not begging, but aligning our thoughts with God's ideas. Leddy has compiled a unique series of twelve prayer services, embodying the essence of each of the twelve chapters of this fascinating study.
Join Leddy and experience the deep thoughts of Charles and Cora Fillmore every Wednesday evening through October.
Come, let us pray together! |

"The Scriptures treat light and intelligence as one. In the very first chapter of the Bible, we are told that Mind became manifest as light. 'And God said, Let there be light: and there was light' (Gen 1:3). But the mind that judges according to appearance never discerns the inner truth about light or anything else. We must know the Truth about the omnipresence of the one intelligence in the light; then we shall be made free from our intellectual darkness. Science agrees with James that 'every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights' (James 1:17). Science says light is a very orderly and exceedingly productive wave motion in the ether, but science does not tell us that light is God intelligence in action and that we can link our mind with the light and reap the benefit of its marvelous potentialities.... Give the discoveries [of the physical scientists] the light of mind. Then you will find that the substance and life will become more obedient to your word of command.... Open your mind to the light of Spirit wherever you are. See with the eye of the mind that God is omnipresent Spirit, 'over all, and through all, and in all' (Ephesians 4:6)" -- Charles and Cora Fillmore, in Teach Us to Pray). |
|
OUR WEEKLY AFFIRMATION:
"I OPEN MY MIND TO THE LIGHT OF SPIRIT WHEREVER I AM. I BEHOLD GOD'S LIGHT SURROUNDING AND ILLUMINING ALL PEOPLE, EVERYWHERE."
THANK YOU, GOD! |
