Construction continues to move forward as we prepare for the next major phase of our building project.
This past week, several large palm trees and smaller plants were removed from the site. While it may seem unusual to remove landscaping that was planted only a year or so ago, these plantings were required by the City of Clearwater before construction began. Unfortunately, they were located in the path of a future sidewalk and also interfered with the installation of the underground stormwater piping required for the new building.
One interesting thing we've learned during this process is that even the topsoil being brought to the site must be tested and approved before it can be used. We expect those test results this week, and if approved—as anticipated—approximately 80 to 85 dump truck loads of soil will be delivered to the property. The soil will be placed and compacted in 12-inch layers to create a stable base for construction.
Because the property slopes from north to south, the amount of fill needed will vary across the site. The area closest to Nursery Road will require relatively little additional soil, while portions of the south end of the property will need several feet of fill to achieve the proper elevation.
You may notice the simple wooden stake shown in this week's photo. While it may not look like much, it actually marks an important milestone in the construction process. The construction team and masonry contractor recently established the elevations for the building's foundations, determining where the top of the future footings and slab will be. As approved fill dirt is brought in and compacted, portions of the site will gradually rise—some areas by as much as five feet above the current ground level—to create the proper foundation for our new church home.
Weather permitting, the filling and compaction process could begin this week. Once that work is complete, the masonry contractor will begin excavating the footings and preparing for concrete work—another significant step toward seeing our new church home rise from the ground.
Our
beautiful new Church Home is being built for us in wisdom, love, and
divine timing and we are ready to receive it!

Bring the Kids to Church Every Sunday!! |

After a long time coming, we’ve started something new—there’s now a kids table set up in the back every Sunday!
For this season, our services are all about being together as a family while we wait for our new building and dedicated kids spaces. It’s simple, but it feels like a really meaningful step forward.
Deanna has graciously stepped up to welcome and care for our kids each week. She’ll have coloring activities available, along with a couple of iPads for them to use. Kids are also welcome to bring a tablet or phone to enjoy quietly during the service.

interpretation. It's awesome to see how these paths intertwine to teach
Truth!

with insights from the Gospels as well.
