We Are So Grateful!
Construction Update
We are once again moving forward, and are currently in the process of looking for an architect and a structural engineer.  Even though we have approved plans we'll need a local architect and engineer to help make field revisions to the plans and verify specs when suppliers request clarifications.

We remain very grateful for the steadfast faith of all those whose gifts of love and substance sustain our Church during this time of transition.  We are very glad to welcome old friends and new friends on Sundays on our home campus.  Watch this space as we give thanks together that God is clearing the way for us to go forward.

Our beautiful new Church Home is being built for us in wisdom, love, and divine timing and we are ready to receive it!

This Sunday: Leddy Hammock - How Big Is Your God?
Highlights:

Inspired by lyrics from “I Know God” by Denise Rosier:

I have felt the Spirit stirring in my soul, deep in my soul.

I will give love, I will speak peace, all because of the love that got a-hold of me --
so wide open, so amazing, it takes my breath away when it occurs to me.

When the Spirit in me meets the Spirit, I have felt this fire burning in my soul.

In a world where so many feel lost, I know God.
Last Sunday's Shining Words:

“The place where you stand is holy ground” (Exodus 3:5).

I am the place, you are the place, we are the place where God shows up!
Don’t Miss Simon Lasky this Sunday, Aug 24 at UCC!
British jazz pianist/composer, Simon Lasky, has received major awards for his music in the U.S. and the U.K., including a 2018 “British Composer Award, two 2024 Creative Loafing “Best of The Bay Awards,” a 2025 “Palladium Creative Fellowship” and regular endorsements from the International Society of Jazz Arrangers & Composers; his music has been selected for many high profile presentations.

The three albums featuring Simon as leader showcase dozens of compositions for jazz ensembles. His music has been performed in London’s Barbican Hall and Wigmore Hall and broadcast extensively on BBC radio and NPR. He has performed and recorded with leading jazz artists from the U.S. and European jazz scenes.

Simon relocated from London, England to Tampa, Florida in 2018 on the receipt of a Fellowship to study jazz composition at the University of South Florida with multiple GRAMMY nominated big band composer, Chuck Owen. Simon has performed in New York City jazz clubs, Florida jazz festivals, and he has led his Tampa Bay based jazz group in sold-out concerts throughout South and Central Florida. In demand as a soloist and a lecturer, Simon has also been an Adjunct Faculty Music Professor at the University of South Florida and Hillsborough Community College. Simon was recommended to us by the wonderful Rebecca Zapen, violinist extraordinaire and Music Director at Unity of St. Petersburg; Rebecca, has played for many events at Congregation Beth Shalom, our beloved friends and interfaith partners who kindly sheltered our UCC Sunday services most weeks for many months of our wanderings over the past two years. Our beloved Sue Riley reached out to Rebecca, who is Music Director at Unity of St. Petersburg – which, interestingly, was the Church that invited Leddy to Florida in 1979! We believe that there are no accidents and we are brought together in Unity by divine appointment.

Please know that we feel truly blessed, to say, with all our hearts, “Welcome, Simon!”

What is Emotional Freedom Tapping (EFT)

Your body is more powerful than you may imagine, filled with life, energy, and a compelling ability for self-healing.

Like acupuncture and acupressure, Tapping is a set of techniques that utilize the body’s energy meridian points. You can stimulate these meridian points by tapping on them with your fingertips, literally tapping into your body’s own energy and healing power.

Gather with a great group of positive and supportive folks with healing in mind!

Teach Us to Pray was written by Charles Fillmore (Cofounder of the Unity Movement) and his second wife, Cora (a leader in Silent Unity and in Unity's Correspondence School and a beloved teacher of prayer).  Cora Fillmore contributed a large number of the affirmations, lesson plans, and instructional chapters in this volume. As we follow the lessons together, we see that prayer is not begging, but aligning our thoughts with God's ideas.  Leddy has compiled a unique series of twelve prayer services, embodying the essence of each of the twelve chapters of this fascinating study.

Join Leddy and experience the deep thoughts of Charles and Cora Fillmore every Wednesday evening through October.

Come, let us pray together!

Healing Thought # 282
Referring to a quote from St. Jerome, I once heard James Dillet Freeman say that the Unity understanding about life and Truth and the nature of God--has "shallows where a baby can wade and depths where a giant can swim." In the 1980's, I heard The Reverend Johnnie Colemon explain to us, her listeners, that if the God of our understanding is not up to the task of answering our prayers, that we must "get a bigger God!"
(The Rev. Dr. Leddy Hammock, Sr. Minister at Unity Church of Clearwater, 2025).
OUR WEEKLY AFFIRMATION:

"MY GOD IS BIG ENOUGH, WISE ENOUGH, AND LOVING ENOUGH TO HANDLE EVERY DETAIL OF MY DAILY LIFE."

THANK YOU, GOD!
