Afocal optics are often tested using purely visual test procedures. But does it really make sense to rely solely on subjective quality assessements in a field, where maximum precision is required? Highly accurate and objective image quality testing is an important precondition for perfect functionality of afocal optics.

The ImageMaster® Afocal determines the MTF and further important parameters in an automated measuring process. Decisive measurements parameters for image quality assessment are:
  • MTF on-axis and off-axis
  • Magnification
  • Distortion
  • Lateral chromatic aberration
  • Astigmatism
  • Field curvature
  • Parallax (alignment check of reticle)
  • Field of view, objective and subjective

Matthias Hornig holds a degree as Master of Science in Physics. He is employed at TRIOPTICS since 2016 and has worked on the development of the ImageMaster® HR and Lab VR. In 2018 he took over the development and product management of the ImageMaster® Universal. In his current position as product manager he is responsible for several ImageMaster® products including the ImageMaster® Afocal.
