As quality-critical optical elements doublets are often centered by means of alignment turning. Their centering also depends on the internal optical surfaces. In this video you can see how these are taken into account in the alignment turning station ATS.
ATS
High-precision alignment turning station
––––––
The quality of an objective lens depends on the alignment of the single lenses. During alignment turning with the ATS, the mount edge and flange surfaces of mounted spherical, aspherical and cylindrical lenses are manufactured in such a way that highly accurate mounting is ensured via passive adjustment of the elements. The high-precision measurement of decentration and the very accurate machining of the mount avoid costly iterative alignment steps and allow the production of high-performance optics.
