Falling Flat?
Keep on Rolling!
Are flat tires ruining your cycling life? Between construction on the canal path and the sea of freshly-chipped back roads, we've seen an uptick in the number of punctured tubes. While you may not be able to completely eradicate flats, following a few simple tips can keep them to an absolute minimum (and ensure that your bike doesn't become a hike when the inevitable happens).

Be prepared for the worst
Make sure you've got a flat-tire repair kit on your bike. Even if you don't have the skills (yet!) to fix a flat, bike people tend to be helpful and someone will likely stop and show you what to do. Come by the shop and any of our excellent sales staff will be happy to set you up with everything you need for an emergency...and after one of our FREE flat tire clinics you'll have the knowledge, confidence, and skills to tackle this repair on your own.

Gator-tough Protection
You can also consider upgrading to puncture-resistant tires, which help out immensely with the rough Rochester roads. Our selection from Continental (including the ever-popular Gatorskins) are a top choice with customers and staff alike, and our Bontrager Hard Case options offer optimal flat protection and ride quality. Stop by and we would be happy to listen to your riding preferences, make a recommendation, and can even install your new tires.

Pump it Up
Be sure to start every ride with a PSI check. Riding with too-low pressure not only feels horrible, but can actually cause flats. Our selection of floor pumps from Bontrager includes a pressure gauge AND will work with both Presta or Schrader valves with no adapter required.
FREE Flat Tire Repair Clinic
Don't let a punctured tube ruin your next ride--while "bike" and "hike" work well together in bad poetry, join us at the shop on Thursday, August 13 at 6:00 pm for a FREE fix-it workshop led by the dynamic Dylan. You'll gain the confidence, skills, and knowledge to quickly and efficiently repair your next flat.
