This month TNI (co)-organizes multiple events including: the Fair, Green and Global European election debate in De Melkweg, the Hart boven Hard demonstration in Utrecht, and Venezuela: democratic solutions to the crisis in Desmet Studio’s.

Fair, Green and Global European election debate
Sunday 12 May

Sunday May 12th the one and only FGG European Election Debate will take place in De Melkweg. With i.a. (5 of them leading candidates) Bas Eickhout (GL), Sophie in ’t Veld (D66), Anja Hazekamp (PvdD), Arnout Hoekstra (SP), Reinier van Lanschot (Volt) and Paul Tang (PvdA)

Venezuela: democratic solutions to the crisis
Thursday 6 June

Venezuela is passing through a period of acute political, economic and social chaos. Once one of the driving powers behind the new Latin American left, the economy has collapsed and there is a shortage of food and medicine.

What structural or historical factors have caused the current situation? Is there a peaceful and democratic way out of the crisis?

  • Edgardo Lander: TNI fellow, retired professor at the Central University in Caracas and spokesperson of the independent Citizens Platform in Venezuela.

  • Daniel Chavez: TNI fellow, researcher and author of the book The New Latin American Left.
