Subject: New Testament recording status; need for more translators; Father’s Day pics

These pictures from Father’s Day are a bit late, but I wanted to share them anyway. Ariela took me out to Starbucks as her treat, Kirsten made a “cake” of fruit (since she knows I try to stay away from sweets), and we also had a cookout with Timothy, Elizabeth, and Daniel.

We are back from Croatia now and over jet lag, though I’m fighting the last stages of a cold.

I wanted to share with you two praises and three prayer needs:

  1. The Serbian Arli team finished making the audio recording of the New Testament, which will be a wonderful tool to get God’s Word to this mostly audio/oral (non-reading) culture.

  2. The Gurbet team has started making the recording of their New Testament translation. Please pray that all will go smoothly and that this will also be a widely used tool to get God’s Word to more Roma.

  3. Pray that the Chergash team can find a reader and record the translation of their New Testament soon.

  4. The Serbian Arli and Gurbet teams recently used their translation of Ruth at a youth conference in Serbia, and it was very well received by the youth in attendance. See pictures below of the translators reading to the youth.

  5. Despite all our best efforts, we have not been able to find translators to do more of the New Testament in the Bayash and Ludari languages. As you may remember, we completed Luke and 50 chronological Bible stories a few years back. Please pray that:

    • we can find at least two translators for each of these two languages;

    • the funding will be provided for these projects through major donors (tens of thousands of dollars will be needed over a multi-year project);

    • if the Lord wills, we can have everything in place this Fall or Winter in order to move forward.

Thank you for praying!
