My dad had emergency surgery yesterday. Thankfully the surgery went well. Please pray for him as he recovers from 2 surgeries in 1 week's time, and my mom as she battles Parkinson's.

Dad had had lung surgery last week to remove cancer that had appeared there from his colon cancer 5 years ago. After the surgery he was unable to keep anything down, was vomiting, dehydrated and had an elevated white count and distended stomach.

They took him to the ER and decided to do emergency surgery. I was flying from Seattle back to Dallas. When I landed in Dallas, we cancelled our meeting and went straight to Oklahoma City. My aunt and sister were with my dad and taking great care of him in the hospital, and people from my mom and dad's church were visiting Mom at home.

The doctors were concerned that dad had a perforated bowel as they detected leakage. There was complete blockage and they removed 2 liters of bile. When they went in for surgery, they found (praise God!) that the leakage had stopped, there was no perforation, but there was scar tissue and adhesion from his colon surgery 5 years ago. We thank God that the surgery was successful.

Dad will be in the hospital for awhile. He was quite confused after surgery, though is doing better now. He needs to rest as he went without sleep for a few days due to vomiting.

Mom is struggling with confusion and her Parkinson's. Pam is with her at the house in OKC, while I am with my dad at the hospital.

When Dad saw the Gideon's Bible on the tray, he mentioned Psalm 41, which I read to him. Verse 3 was such an encouragement to us: "The LORD sustains him on his sickbed; in his illness you restore him to full health."

Please pray for long term recovery and health for both my mom and dad, and for their long term care in their current needs. Thank you for understanding that I will be very slow in responding to any messages or e-mails.
