FAMILY UPDATE:

We rejoice at the birth of our first grandchild, baby girl Sell! Thank you for praying for her and Elizabeth. They had to stay in the NICU for a week after a very long labor, an infection, and an emergency C-section. They are home now and doing very well. We love visiting them and holding our granddaughter!

Ariela continues with piano and gymnastics lessons, and Daniel is learning skills working for a friend in his HVAC, electric, and plumbing business.

Pamala is very involved in our home church leading worship on Sundays, teaching girls’ Sunday school to youth, and leading toddler worship, as well as writing the Christmas play. Todd is also very busy serving as an elder, teaching the Sunday adult Equip Hour class, and leading a Wednesday night prayer meeting.

TRANSLATION PROGRESS:

Thank you for praying for our work of Bible translation. This quarter, we finished our quality assurance (consultant) checks of Genesis in Serbian Arli, the first half of Joshua in three languages (Serbian Arli, Gurbet, and Chergash), and the second half of Matthew in Macedonian Arli–2,115 verses in the combined four languages. It is exciting to be making good progress and seeing the great job the Roma translators are doing!

In addition to continuing to check the translation of Joshua in three languages, and 1-2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon, 1-3 John, and most of Luke in another language, I plan to teach Introduction to New Testament Greek online to our Roma Bible translators. Also, this month I will attend in person the biennial Bible Translation Conference in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The Serbian Arli, Gurbet, and Chergash teams continue to format and typeset, as well as audio record, the entire New Testament with plans to publish them this winter.

A notable praise is that Goran (pictured above), the main translator for Gurbet, is finally able to work again as a translator after a prolonged bout with breathing difficulties that required multiple hospitalizations. Please pray that he will remain healthy.

Our partners at Faith Comes by Hearing are working on putting our translation of Luke in the Bayash and Ludari languages into a film (LUMO) that goes verse-by-verse through that Gospel. When finished, it will be a fantastic evangelistic tool for these two languages, which currently only have the Gospel of Luke translated into their languages.

Pray for all the logistics to produce these films and share them with the Bayash and Ludari people in Croatia and Serbia. Please also pray that we can secure funding and the necessary Roma translators to translate more of the New Testament into the Bayash and Ludari languages.

Thank you for your faithful prayers and financial support!
