Subject: 8,000 miles, a new country & camaraderie with colleagues

Thank you for praying for my recent meetings. I just returned home after spending the week traveling nearly 8,000 miles and attending a strategic planning workshop in South Africa.

As the Regional Consultant Coordinator for Europe, I met with the other Regional Consultant Coordinators who serve in Africa and Asia and with the international consultant leaders at a small mountain reserve outside of Stanford, South Africa. The photos above and below show the beautiful surroundings, displaying the grandeur of God’s handiwork.

The Word for the World Bible Translators has set a BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal) to be instrumental in the completion of the translation of the whole Bible in 1,000 languages by the year 2050. To date, we have only completed 8, but we have 426 currently being worked on. To reach this audacious goal, we will need many more Bible translation consultants. As Regional Consultant Coordinators, our job is to provide oversight and training for Bible translators, helping them grow into effective translation consultants.

In the workshop, we discussed how best to carry out that task by planning how to train and mentor potential consultants and help them develop professionally, academically, and spiritually. We also brainstormed how to leverage AI and other tools for translation, as well as design a training curriculum and how-to guides for our mentees. Thank you for your prayers for my travels and these important meetings.

On the home front, we've enjoyed Elizabeth's baby shower (she is due in a week and a half), attending a friend's wedding in Kansas, celebrating Ariela's 14th birthday, and visiting Todd's mom in Oklahoma City. See the pictures below.

Thank you for your faithful prayers and support!

Gratefully,

Todd & Pamala
