Yesterday, when I checked Hebrews 8 and 9 with the Chergash team, they told me about an amazing outreach they had last week. They visited three Roma villages in Serbia to give out the Sermon on the Mount in the Chergash language to the Roma who live there. Many of those Roma are living in abject poverty. Some children were almost naked; even though it was winter, some had no pants or shoes. Djena cut his sermon short when he saw the barefoot children shivering as they stood outside and listened.

Djena, Biljana and Sasha gave the children chocolates and gift packets. One of the villages had recently burned down and was in dire straits, with families of six or more living in one room. But they were so encouraged by the visit. One Chergash Roma man said the Scripture they gave him was the greatest gift he had ever received.

When they asked the Roma whether the Bible in their language was needed, they responded with an enthusiastic “yes.” Praise God that we have only four more chapters of the New Testament to finish checking the entire New Testament in the Chergash language. The books that have been finished are available in an app, which Djena, Biljana, and Sasha showed the people how to use.

Please pray that we will complete the NT on time and with the highest level of accuracy and clarity and that we can print the completed NT and distribute it next year. And pray that Djena and Biljana will be able to return in the future to minister God’s Word to those Roma villages.
