Subject: A Rare Offering...Learn How to Use Ayurvedic Herbs

Ayurvedic herbs can
help you feel better.

Hi everybody,
I am offering a new SRJC class called Ayurvedic Herbs: How to Use Them. Sign up (click here) for my  6 week course beginning September 14, 2015  ... then come into the office and receive a 30g bag of Triphala FREE! You can start using the herb right away with the instructions in this email ! In the next emails, we will preview information about other herbs and their uses.

In the class, I will teach specifically about Ayurvedic Herbs, how to identify them and use them in your daily life. Topics to be covered will include:
  • UPASHAY: When working with herbs, it is important to keep in mind the concept of UPASHAY...which means therapeutic index. This “therapeutic index” comes through the choice process. As you deal with symptoms, administering the herbs, and tracking your results, you will learn this technique.
  • The relationship of specific herbs to the Five Elements of Ayurveda
  • The relationship of herbs to the three basic Gunas (mental states)
  • The relationship of herbs to the basic Doshas (body types)
  • The identification and use of specific herbs
  • The preparation of herbs and their administration for specific conditions
  • The use of herbs when taking western pharmaceutical drugs.
Have you heard of Triphala?

It is good for...
Abdominal Bloating
Argumentativeness
Coated Tongue
Diarrhea
Swollen Glands

Instructions for taking Triphala:

* Six ways to take Triphala:
  1. Coated Tongue—Combine 1/4 tsp Trikatu and 1/2 tsp Triphala with warm water and drink every morning for up to one month, or until the coating disappears.
  2. For Argumentativeness—Combine 1/4 tsp each Saraswati and Arjuna (Terminalia Arjuna) with 1/2 tsp Triphala; take 1/8 tsp of this mixture with warm water or a mild herb tea such as chamomile in the morning and evening. If you are very cranky, take 1/2 tsp.
  3. Take Triphala in the evening, at least one hour after your evening meal. Add 1/2 to 1 tsp Triphala powder to about 1 cup boiling water. Steep for 10 minutes or until the water is cool enough to drink. You may strain out the herbs before drinking or just leave them at the bottom of the cup.
  4. Place 1/2 to 1 tsp of dry Triphala powder on your tongue, and wash it down with warm water.
  5. For some people, Triphala acts as a mild diuretic and may disturb the sleep if taken at night. If you are one of those people, drink the tea in the morning and it will act in about one hour.
  6. If the taste is difficult for you, you can mix the Triphala powder with honey and take it that way.
