Through these concerts, I realised something:
We musicians have the power to make someone’s day. At the Woodlands Health concert, we saw patients who looked tired, probably still recovering. But as we sang Christmas songs, their faces lit up. They smiled, clapped along, and sang with us. At our Christmas recital, I saw an elderly man almost moved to tears by a piano piece. Later, he shared that the music brought back many memories for him.
Also at the recital, we ended with a song that became popular this year.
Kids and adults sang together. Some even went on stage to dance.
These moments reminded me that our superpower as musicians isn’t just about playing music.
It’s about bringing joy, comfort, and connection to others.
So the next time you feel tired while practising your performance piece, remember this…
That piece may be waiting to change someone else’s day, or even their life.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
