Yes that’s right! We added pop violin category due to multiple requests from past participants. (After all, we already have Pop Piano category, so why not Pop violin too!)
And yes, you can join both pop and classical violin category.
For pop violin category, you can play any pieces that are non-classical.
Just some ideas for pop violin music:
- Contemporary music like River Flows in You, Kiss the Rain by Yiruma
- Anime favourites like Merry Go Round of Life from Howl’s Moving Castle...
- Pop hits like Die with a Smile (Lady Gaga & Bruno), Rush E, Pirates of the Carribean...
- Mandopop - like The Moon Represents My Heart (月亮代表我的心), or other Chinese pop songs from your favourite artists (Jay Chou, JJ Lin…etc)
Just like classical pieces, there are so many pop music repertoire you can choose to perform and showcase your music.
