Subject: These children taught me one important lesson

Hello!

Valerie from The Happy Violinist!

I have something interesting to share that happened recently.

Last month, at the Happy Music Festival Gala concert at LaSalle SIA Theatre, I was part of the organizing team that assist the performers to prepare for their performance on stage.

To present their winning music piece to the near-300 people in the concert hall.

We made sure everything was ready: the piano was nicely tuned, the microphone was set up, chairs were arranged, and even snacks were prepared backstage for the performers.

But then, our biggest fear happened.

A parent called to say their child had a fever in the morning.

A teacher called saying a student had a stomachache.

Another parent told me their child took medicine and had a nap now, and they would arrive about 15 minutes before the show started.

I told them, "It’s okay. Let’s meet in the concert hall and talk more."

When I saw the kids backstage, they were dressed nicely and seemed active, but I could tell they weren’t feeling 100%.

Honestly, we weren’t sure if they were ready to perform. The parents also seemed unsure.

But instead of dwelling on that, we simply asked each child, "Are you ready to perform?"

To my surprise, all of them said, "Yes! I want to perform!"

Since they said yes, I thought, “Then let’s go!”

We also pay special attention to them to assist them if they need.

One by one, they confidently walked onto the stage to perform in front of nearly 300 people.

They did a great job, just like in the finals, which earned them a spot in the Gala concert.

After their performances, they returned backstage. I thought they would rest, but they ended up playing and laughing with the other kids.

Honestly, I am proud of them because they performed well despite their worries or illness.

These kids taught me an important lesson: don’t let anything stop you.

Sometimes, as adults, we overthink and worry about things that might go wrong... somethings that might never happen!

But kids, being young and with less life experience, often don’t think about the negative outcomes. They just go for it.

I hope this story inspires you to embrace your child-like spirit again, especially when facing an important or challenging task. Sometimes, a little confidence and courage are all you need.

Meanwhile, Happy Children's Day!
