Subject: Losing motivation in music? Here’s a simple solution.⚡️

Hello!

Mark here from The Happy Pianist!

In my line of work, I speak to parents and music students every day.

One question I get asked most frequently is: “My child is losing interest in music… how do I bring back their spark?”

It’s completely normal for kids to hit a wall, feel stuck, or feel like they aren't progressing as fast as they'd like. These feelings are a natural part of the learning journey.

While you can wait for that spark to return naturally, here is a quick and powerful way to rekindle that spark: take your child to watch other kids their age perform.

Here’s why this works so well.

When children watch adults or their teachers play, they assume it’s just “natural.” They think, “Of course they play well! They’re adults and have been playing forever. I’m just a child.”

But when they see someone their own age step up and play a piece they love?

Everything changes. It moves from "impossible" to "within reach."

Suddenly, it’s: “If they can do it, I can too!”

Instead of feeling pressured, they become naturally curious: “Mommy, how can they play that piece so smoothly? I want to try that!”

Parents and teachers can give endless motivational talks, but seeing a peer shine on stage is often far more inspiring. (And honestly, this works for adults too!)

If you’re looking for a fresh dose of inspiration for your child (or yourself), we welcome you to join us live at the Happy Music Festival Finals this September!

Even if your child isn't on stage this time, sitting in the audience might be the exact spark they need for the next step in their musical journey.

The performers have been preparing for over 6 months to perform live in front of our panel of judges and a live audience.
