Papai Velho Mamãe Velha

“Each hinario we sing—all the joy, community, and healing which unfolds through our practice of the Santo Daime—is a blessing which stems from their devotion.”

Dear Friends of CHLQ,

We are grateful to the leadership of CHLQ for their generous support, and for allowing us to continue to share our message about Papai Velho Mamãe Velha. We wish to offer once again a bright invitation to support this good mission.

Administered by Isabel Barsé, Sônia Palhares, and Clara Lura, its goal is to provide dependable care — medical support, nutritious food, and safe housing — for the founding elders of Céu do Mapiá who do not have these needs met. The funding also covers a weekly wellness check, the delivery of cooked meals twice a week, and a small financial gift on their birthdays. Visit our website (below) for further program information.

The intention is that Daimistas of the world will band together to contribute monthly donations within their means (anywhere from $5-$30 a month), so that our elders may experience their old age with dignity and ease. Your gift of even $5 each month makes a difference.

To be fully funded, the program will rely on 200 monthly donors. As of this writing, we are just over halfway there with exactly 108 donors! We have set a goal of adding 25 donors by the 19th of January, the Feast of Saint Sebastian, with a final goal of 200 total donors by the Feast of Saint John in June.

As of this writing, we need 17 additional donors to reach our goal!

Setting up a gift is simple, and all donations are tax deductible. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.

Currently, several of the recipients of PVMV are receiving help to cover costs of emergency medical care in Rio Branco. Dona Maria Veronica Manns Lobos (a long-time caretaker of Madrinha Rita) wishes to share her gratitude for the PVMV program.
