On Saturday the fifth of October 1996, the birthday of Padrinho Sebastiáo, we officially inaugurated the Church of the Holy Light of the Queen. We did so in the presence, and with the force and the blessings of Padrinho Alfredo, Roberval, Rutelene, Madrina Cristina, Padrinho Alex Polari, Nilton Caparelli, Susana Cabral and other leaders of the Santo Daime path from Brasil. On that day there were five marriages, 21 baptisms, and 16 fardamentos. In the star ceremony, 8 of the 16 new initiates fainted. It was a strong moment. And a foreshadowing.
In these 30 years, we have learned a lot; as individuals dedicated to the path and as a collective dedicated to receiving all those who come with respect and intention. We intended and have learned to be in truthful, heart-centered, grounded relationship in a community. We have had triumphs in healing and in liberating the Daime from government interference. We have also made mistakes that occasioned an opportunity to learn and practice forgiveness and from which we have learned from and grown. Thousands of people have come to our works. Some of them have become initiates in the path. All of them have said they were received with respect, love, and kindness. We have opened and guided multiple churches in this country, Canada, and New Zealand. And we’re still here. More united in the heart, more actualizing of the teachings of our doctrine with every passing year. Our evolution and the teachings of our path and our guides continue and deepen. We are all students of the Daime, of authentic spirituality, and of our own higher beings. We are blessed beyond measure. And it’s been some serious hard work, demanding faith, courage, determination, forgiveness, ongoing choice, and good humor.
On October 10 and 11, and again on November 14 and 15 of this year 2026, we will commemorate our unbroken 30 years of existence, once again with the presences, force, and blessings of leaders, mentors, and friends from Brasil.

Then on November 14, we will continue the celebration of the anniversary of the church on the occasion of Madrinha Jane’s birthday. We will have the honor of the presence of our brother, friend, mentor Marcelo Bernardes and his betrothed Eniana.
