NEW! Granular Microbial Rennet

This granular, vegetarian rennet called Fromase® is produced from the same organism, Rhizomucor miehei, as our previous liquid vegetarian rennet. The granular form provides a longer shelf life and, therefore, more cheesemaking potential to the casual hobbyist.

Usage rate is comparable to most liquid rennets at 1/8 - 1/4 tsp per gallon of milk. Simply dilute in a small amount of clean water before adding to the milk.


This rennet is appropriate for all cheese types, but is particularly common for use in making fresh cheeses, rather than aged. Often, calf rennet is preferred for aged cheeses.
