Governor Bill Lee's Special Session to pass his gun control agenda has been called for August 21, 2023.

While its a great thing for Tennessee to be known as a "Red State" it would be disastrous for Tennessee to be known as a "Red Flag State"

Bill Lee, in an apparent emotional response to the Covenant murders, has called on the Tennessee Legislature to pass his gun control agenda that is nothing more than a Red Flag law.  When the Legislature refused and adjourned, he has essentially thrown a tantrum and has now called the Bill Lee Special Session to intimidate the Legislature to pass his vision for additional gun control in Tennessee.

It is critical that Tennesseans step up and fight back - figuratively and hopefully not yet to the extent that occurred at the Battle of Athens -  against Bill Lee's Special Session.   While we truly believe that there are a majority of Legislative Republicans who oppose Red Flag laws, it is possible that Bill Lee could join forces with Democrats like Justin Jones and a minority of the Republican caucuses who, like Lt. Gov. Randy McNally, have already voiced public support for Red Flag laws and thereby cobble together the votes to pass gun control in Tennessee.  That would make Tennessee once again a major gun control example for the nation.

The Tennessee Firearms Association Legislative Action Committee is a state political action committee that has a history of fighting for our rights.  It is preparing to make Tennessee's Legislators "feel the heat" if they are tempted to provide any gun control support to Bill Lee's Special Session.  So far, we have raised about $24,000 to help with the costs of radio spots and social media to fight the Red Flag efforts.   But our estimates are that a state wide, saturation effort could require $150,000 or more.   With over 700,000 permit holders in the state and hundreds of thousands more who are gun owners that do not have permits, raising $150,000 should be attainable.

If you are ready to fight against Bill Lee's Special Session and to defeat his Red Flag threat in our state, we want and need your support.

First, please consider making a contribution to the TFALAC to help raise the funds for the advertising blitz.   We want it to be the "shot heard around the state" but that takes commitment.

Second, please consider attending the TFALAC's Annual Event in 2023.  We want to have a large turnout to get the attention of those legislators and, hopefully, to celebrate the defeat of the Red Flag agenda.   But, we also will need to raise money to try and defeat those Legislators who support Bill Lee's Special Session and his gun control agenda when they run for re-election in 2024.
