TFALAC publishes list of candidate donations through June 2022

TFALAC, the state political action committee, has made financial contributions to various candidates. Those donations were disbursed in June 2022 and reported in the Second Quarter PAC reports with the state. In most instances, the contributions were only made to candidates that had responded to TFA’s candidate survey and who have contested races in the August 2022 party primaries.

Most incumbents did not respond to the survey and, in the example of Lt. Gov. Randy McNally, refused to respond to the survey or to the Red Flag or ATF pledges. This is unfortunate since the survey (the questions and responses to individual questions are on the TFA’s news posts ) is specifically designed to communicate from candidates to voters which issues a candidate supports or opposes. We can only conclude that most incumbent candidates want your vote but don’t want to tell you how they plan to address important Second Amendment issues.

The distributions from TFALAC through June 2022 are as follows:

House Candidates

John Mark Windle
Gino Bulso
Laurie Cardozo-Moore
Scott Cepiky
Bryan Richey
Lee Mills
Kip Capley
Elaine Davis
Terry Lynn Weaver
Paul Sherrell
Rick Eldridge
Todd Warner

Senate

Gary Humble

If a candidate responded to the survey but does not have an August contested primary, TFALAC will consider at a later date whether to make a contribution for the November general elections.

Candidate Surveys and Pledges Update

TFA surveyed all candidates for governor or the Legislature in 2022.  It published the survey responses as a news update June 13, 2022.  TFA's survey report includes a blank survey form and an Excel spreadsheet showing which candidates responded and what the candidate's response was (yes or no) to each question.

Subsequently, TFA also released "candidate pledges" for both Red Flag laws as well as ATF abuses.  The responses are being submitted but are not yet tabulated and released.

The blank surveys and the blank pledges can be downloaded and answered by any candidate for any office and sent to TFA for consideration.  Voters are encouraged to have copies of the blank forms and requests that candidates sign them or complete them in face to face meetings or events.

Many incumbents have not responded to the survey or to one or both of the pledges.  This should raise concerns for voters as to why these incumbents are unwilling to answer specific questions about where they are on these issues.  Clearly, almost all of them are putting statements on their campaign websites, mailers and emails that they are "strong supporters of the Second Amendment" or that they were "endorsed by the NRA" but there is no way for any voter to consider those statements since they are not connected with specific prior votes nor do they disclosed specific positions on specific issues like "Red Flag" laws or enacting REAL constitutional carry.

TFA recommends that voters abstain from voting for any candidate who is unwilling to put in writing where they stand on specific issues - 2nd Amendment or others.
