SPECIAL NOTICE – the proposed “RED FLAG” law (Senate Bill 1178 and House Bill 1446) was set to be heard March 26. A major amendment - one rewriting the entire bill and taking it from 3 to 19 pages - was filed just hours before the scheduled hearing.  It is now reset for Tuesday, April 2, 2019 on the Senate Judiciary Calendar!

This bill is a “MUST DEFEAT” bill. This  bill is a dangerous attack on your rights under the 2nd Amendment and has serious due process problems. It is nothing other than a gun control measure masquerading as a “reasonable public safety measure”.

TFA has posted a detailed report on the bill on its website.  That report also includes the full text of the original bill, the full text of the amended bill and a "red lined" comparison of the two versions of the bill.

Call, fax and email the sponsor, the committee members as well as your individual House and Senate members to DEFEAT this bill.

It is critical that the personal visits, calls and emails continue to put a stop to this dangerous legislation and abuse of stewardship authority. And, in addition to the legislators who need to be hearing how much you oppose this legislation and its infringements on your rights, you also need to be calling and “sharing your thoughts” with others who may be “supporting” it including your local sheriff, your local chief of police, your local district attorney, and even your local judges. If these additional “interested parties” hear from you, they might be less inclined to think that the “public” would obviously support what they may deem to be “reasonable” infringements on everyone’s fundamental rights … in the name of safety.
