Senator Brent Taylor supports lawsuit by TFA seeking to enjoin City of Memphis' firearms ordinances.

On November 17, 2024, Brent Taylor, a Tennessee Senator for Shelby County, issued an official comment on the lawsuit
that was filed by Tennessee Firearms Association, Gun Owners of
America, Gun Owners Foundation and Ty Timmermann against the City of
Memphis.

In his letter, Senator Taylor, who is also a member of the Tennessee
Senate Judiciary committee, stated “[t]his suit is the natural result of
the Memphis City Council choosing to mislead the public and defraud
Memphians into thinking the city had authority to implement gun
control.”

In a comment issued to Memphis’ local news outlets, he has made clear
that he opposes disarming citizens when the City of Memphis is not
serious about dealing with its criminal population:

"There is no way in hell I am going to participate in a discussion to disarm law abiding citizens in America's most dangerous city when no one locally is holding criminals accountable."

If you are interested in helping fight these clearly illegal and unconstitutional acts by Memphis, you can do so by:
- joining
TFA as a member (or renewing your membership) if you are not already a
member. This would be particularly important if you live in or travel
to Memphis and you would want to be considered as a representative
plaintiff.
 - if you are already a member of TFA, you can support this effort with a financial contribution that would help fund the litigation efforts.
 - You can also make a tax deductible donation
to the Tennessee Firearms Foundation (a 501c3 charity) which has
increasingly engaged in or supported public interest litigation on
matters such as this.
