Call to Action - It is urgent that TFA members and supporters call today to urge adoption of REAL Constitutional Carry.
There are several bills pending on constitutional carry and permitless
carry in Tennessee this year. TFA advocates only for the adoption of real Constitutional Carry.
TFA
defines real Constitutional Carry as an environment where “anyone who
can legally possess a firearm can carry that firearm” and do so with
minimal if any gun free zones.
There are 2 bills to be heard in
the Legislature this week. One has our preferred language and is
HB18/SB318. The other is commonly known as the “Governor’s bill” and is
HB786/SB765. TFA believes that the “Governor’s bill” could be amended
to contain language like HB18/SB318 and that this would be much better
than its current language but that amendment is going to take a lot of
phone calls from members.
TFA is encouraging all members and
supporters to call the Speaker, the Lt. Governor and the committee
members (the Senate Judiciary meets at 3pm on Tuesday March 2) to demand
 real constitutional carry.
To help understand TFA’s position on
these bills, TFA has written statements to both committees. These
statements are available for download at the links below. Please review
them before making the phone calls.
This is the call to action on SB765/HB786 which is in the Senate Judiciary Committee on March 2:
- Call the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and the House Criminal Justice Subcommittee.  Call Lt. Governor Randy McNally.  Call Speaker Cameron Sexton.  Also call your individual House and Senate members.  Phone numbers for committee members are below.
 - Tell them you want SB765/HB786 to be fixed by amending in the language from SB318/HB18 which does have REAL constitutional carry language in it and which also addresses gun free zones.
 - Tell them you want "any person who can legally possess a firearm to be able to carry that firearm"  - not 21 and up, not handgun only - "any person who can legally possess a firearm to be able to carry that firearm"
 - "please
pass REAL Constitutional Carry - Pass a law that allows any person who
can legally possess a firearm to carry that firearm."
 - Tell them you are a constituent and you want this fixed right so that we don't have to come back next year or the year after that to get it to REAL Constitutional Carry.
