URGENT -- One of the "Constitutional Carry" bills has been put on notice for next week.  HB1748 (Mattheny) is on notice to be heard on Wednesday in the House Civil Subcommittee.  The key members for purposes of this bill who must vote yes on this bill are Mike Carter, Jim Coley, and Jon Lundberg.  Please call and encourage these legislators to vote "YES" to send the bill forward.

Update on Handgun Permit Holders being allowed in the Legislature.  It was reported last week by numerous sources that Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey expected the signs to be removed which signs presently prohibit handgun permit holders from being able to have their handguns with them in the legislated.  Approximately 11 states currently allow this.  In the last 48 hours, it has been reported that the signs will not be removed solely because Speaker Beth Harwell has refused to allow the signs to be removed.   Since there is no state law requiring these signs, all the change likely required was for Harwell and Ramsey to authorize it.  However, her office claims now that it will cost $1 million dollars for new security screening if permit holders are allowed into the legislature and she does not want to spend the money.  Just more evidence that you should store away just in case Beth Harwell at some point claims she is a supporter of the 2nd Amendment, perhaps in a run for governor or other statewide office.

The bills marked in Green are supported by TFA, those in Blue are being watched but TFA has not taken a position, and those in Red are opposed at this time as written.

Please review these bills carefully.  Feel free to go to the TFA Facebook group and ask questions or advocate for or against the bills you like.

Make the time to communicate with your legislators. Call them and ask questions.  Ask them to sponsor bills you like or appose the ones that you think are not constitutionally sound or, if sound, good public policy.

If you do not already know your legislators or have their phone and email numbers handy, you can get this information on the Legislature's "Find my Legislator" page.
