Friend,
245 years! I repeat, 245 years, The United States of America has been a country (Happy Birthday USA!) for 245 years. While we haven't always gotten everything right (no nation has), I'm happy to say that we are a nation, the first of its kind, created on a dream by men who gave their all to pursue the dream. They set out to do something that no one had ever done before and they penned these words:
The Declaration of Independence IN CONGRESS, JULY 4, 1776 The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America
"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness....
These are only a few of the words written in the Declaration of Independence. Today, I am reminded of all of the documents including; The Constitution of The United States of America, and The Bill of Rights.
While we celebrate America's birthday today, I will be mindful of the sacrifices made by many to secure our freedom and our sovereignty.
