Subject: Teamwork is a Win-Win

Teamwork is a win-win when its members are thinking about each other first. The teammate who gives credit to others often becomes credible. The teammate who serves another often becomes especially liked. And the teammate who always thinks of others first becomes loved.

While my kids were growing up, I asked them if they wanted me to let them in on a secret to getting lots of friends. After rolling their eyes (which was often the response of Dad’s frequent “wisdom”), I told them to put others first. I counseled them to find ways to serve and genuinely compliment others, to help their friends and teammates become better people, and to pray that they would have more love for others. It’s a powerful idea!

There is a Chinese Proverb that states: “If you want happiness for an hour—take a nap. If you want happiness for a day—go fishing. If you want happiness for a month—get married. If you want happiness for a year—inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime—help others.” Happiness on teams is found in the selfless thoughts and acts of each teammate.

It's a win-win!
