Janet Tavakoli for U.S. Senator from Illinois

My campaign for U.S. Senator from Illinois so far

Janet Tavakoli - September 14, 2017 (Contacted the Illinois Republican Party, many RINOs. The following summaries show only the body of the emails.): “I am interested in running as a Republican candidate for U.S. Senator from Illinois against Dick Durbin in 2020. I will be available after Monday, September 25 to discuss this. In particular, I would be interested in knowing your thoughts on logistics, infrastructure required and if you have any estimates of how much a campaign might cost.”

Illinois Republican Party’s Designated Responder - September 19, 2017
(The Deputy Executive Director, a career-long political functionary who graduated with a B.S. in political science in 2012, responded): “Hi Janet, I would be happy to meet with you.”

JT – September 19, 2017: “It turns out I am in Chicago this week. My business trip to the Dominican Republic was cancelled due to Hurricane Maria. Does lunch this week at the East Bank Club at noon work for you? Wed, Thurs, Friday are open. If you prefer another time/venue, let me know.”

JT – September 21, 2017 - After no response to my September 29 email, I resent it.
IRPDR – (Email sent 2:19 PM Sept 25, but received by me 2:40 AM Sept. 26): “Sorry for the delay. I'm slammed the rest of this week. Is there a time next week that works for you?”

JT – September 26, 2017
“On September 19 you wrote: ‘Let me know when you're available and I'll make it work.’ I did, yet we didn’t connect. Let’s try this again. This time, you give me a time that works for you next week, and I will make it work.”

Notes from the Campaign

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel wouldn’t even give police support to then-candidate Trump’s Chicago rally. I believe it is the only campaign rally that President Trump cancelled, because it was out of his hands. Expect the same for any Republican candidate for U.S. Senate.

President Trump used his own money and ignored the Republican Party and ran as a de facto Independent. He flabbergasted the Republican Establishment when he won the primary, and they still didn’t believe it even after he won the election. Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is still undermining him.

If I pursue this, it will be with the resources I can personally muster. My pockets aren’t deep enough to use my own money to run, so I’ll have to raise every penny myself. If I achieve critical mass, the Illinois “Republican” Party will then ask me to help its fundraising efforts. (Don’t worry, I’m not asking for future campaign contributions, I’ll make some calls if this proceeds.)

You’ll recall that with all of his resources, President Trump would have walked away if he didn’t win the primary. He knew he had a good shot, but he wasn’t sure he would win. He fought in the mud and he fought on high ground—he was capable of doing it all. It was a tremendous strain on him and his entire family.

On election night, at one point, he thought he might lose, especially since every poll said he’d lose by a wide margin. Establishment RINOs either refused to support him or damned him and his agenda with faint praise. Democrats had the media behind them. Ninety-one percent of news during the campaign was negative on President Donald Trump

Yet he won.
