Monthly Makes
Sure-Fit Designs Inspiration

Hello there sewing friends! It’s Anna from Canada.  I hope you all had a fantastic break during the holidays. With the New Year comes new plans and new projects. Have you started planning what you would like to sew in 2018?
This month, I wanted to share inspirations for not only the advanced sewers but also the beginner sewers alike.
This month we are focusing in the Dress Kit.

Be an inspiration for others and strut your stuff!

If you are just starting with Sure-Fit Designs, I would like to invite you to make a skirt.
Did you know that a classic pencil cut skirt looks good on most body types?
Once you have drawn your skirt blueprint from the Dress Kit, you will need to learn how to add a waistband and a zipper.
A video on how to add a waistband can be seen here:

A video on how to insert an invisible zipper can be seen here:

If you prefer, you can also make a slight design change to the body blueprint by taking in the skirt width and you will have a Pencil Skirt.

If you prefer to follow step-by-step instructions on how to create a pencil skirt, you can also purchase the Pencil Skirt Fashion Leaflet https://surefitdesigns.com/collections/digital-e-goods/products/pencil-skirt
Pencil Skirts are so easy!

Anna Espindola- Canada
I made a skirt using a canary yellow fabric that I was hesitant to use it, but the color pops and It’s so different that it’s easy to tell that it’s a special skirt that can’t be bought at a store.
Peplum Designing
For those of you that have completed your bodice blueprint and are ready to start making design changes, I invite you to make a blouse with a peplum design. Instructions on how to make a peplum can be found in the 4-pg Fashion Design Sheet.

The sleeveless black peplum blouse (that is shown with the pencil skirt) has a V-neckline. I added a center seam to the bodice front, though it could have easily been cut on the fold.  The facing for a V neck line can sometimes be little tricky, so here are full instructions on how to stitch a V-Neck

This sleeveless blouse also has an invisible zipper down the back.  Use the same technique for inserting the zipper as shown for the pencil skirt.

I hope you enjoyed this month’s makes. And don’t forget to send us your makes to anna@surefitdesigns.ca and inspire seamstresses all over the world!

Happy sewing!!
Anna
