WHAT'S IN IT:
Regal’s Coaching initiative turns six, book recommendations, mental health DIY & much more.
Dear Leader,

You would agree that there is a dramatic and fundamental shift in the role of a manager. Managers are not anymore expected to be just subject matter experts. They have to be good at people management too! Rapid, constant, and disruptive change is now the norm, and to succeed you have to grow and nurture the leader in you.

End of the day, who would you rather work with - the one who knows everything, or the one who knows almost everything and is approachable, inspirational and reliable?

WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY 2020
As the world celebrated on 10.10.2020, we asked some members of our community a question on what they did for their mental health:

MONDAY MUSEART
Last month we had a talk on “Mental Health and Wellness” by Dr. Shubhra N Punetha.

She spoke about how wellness at the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels is equally paramount and encouraged the audience to remove the stigma of being mentally unwell. Some important takeaways from her webinar:
✓ We now have multiple options to heal. Choose what works for each one of us.
✓ In any situation, it is good to ask, ‘Is it even mine?’ If I feel light, then it is mine. If I feel heavy, it is not mine.
✓ It is also good to ask, ‘Who does this belong to?’ Feel free to return to the sender with consciousness.
✓ When we include everyone, let us not forget to include ourselves.
✓ If you feel heavy, ask questions - questions lead to awareness.
✓ “What else is possible?” Focus on solutions, not only problems. Focus to grow.

Great leadership is about having the coaching mindset
You have moved up the corporate ladder, spending time and making the effort to check all the right boxes – academics, meeting the deadlines, upgrading skills, achieving targets, and more. However, there is a lot of difference between becoming the leader and being the leader. Just being good at your job is not enough anymore. Leadership, as you grow up the ladder, is more and more about managing people than completing tasks. As Marshall Goldsmith says, "What has got you here, will not get you there".
You must make the transition to be the leader who inspires the team to put forth the best foot forward. Inspiration happens only when you move away from "Command and Control" mode to "Empower and commit". This transition requires you to suspend judgments, provide support and guidance, rather than tell or give instructions. Coaching mindset helps build trust, enables people working with you to adapt to the constantly changing and challenging environment, in ways that unleash ownership, enthusiasm, and accountability.

Women as Leader - Unfolding a Woman’s Leadership Presence
“Don’t aim to break the glass ceiling: aim to shatter it” - Matshona Dhliwayo While the world is evolving, when it comes to leadership positions, women are lagging. Dr. Daniel Amen, author of Unleash the Power of the Female Brain, in his research has discovered that female brains are very active in almost all areas, especially in the prefrontal and limbic cortex. Women have 30 percent more neurons firing than men do.
This enhances strengths such as empathy, intuition, teamwork, and self-control. Though women have all the positive attributes required to be a great leader, why do we still have fewer women leaders? Read more.

Don't just aim to break the glass ceiling, aim to shatter the glass ceilings, and also your limitations.
