Subject: September Resource-of-the-Month: Pretend to be a String!
The tiny, fuzzy buzz of a string under a child's fingertips.
Traditional string teaching often jumps straight to mechanical rules. Hold your hand here. Pull the bow there.
But when we start with vibration, we give beginners a physical, sensory reason not to clamp down on their instruments.
If a violin has to vibrate to sing, squeezing the neck or choking the bow completely kills the magic.
This month's resource, Discovering Vibration, is an interactive action song kids adore: Pretend to be a String.
How to use it this week: Use the track as a deliberate "wiggle break" mid-lesson when focus starts to drift. By letting your students physically shake and vibrate their arms high, low, fast, and slow, they are releasing the exact upper-body tension that causes rigid posture later on.
I hope this brings a little extra wonder (and a lot less squeezing) to your studio this month!
Keep up the amazing work,
Laura
