A few days ago, I mentioned that Sarah from Pick 'n' Mix Strings and I have been working on a solution to the mixed-ability rehearsal struggle. Today, I am thrilled to officially introduce the Mattachins Music and Dance Pack.

We realised that if we combine our two worlds, we can create a complete performance pipeline that engages every single student in your room simultaneously.

Here is how the framework works:

1. The Movement Foundation: We start with my high-energy Stringosaurus Kinesthetic Dance Challenge. This uses cross-body coordination and finger-tapping to map out musical dynamics and build an unshakeable internal pulse before bows ever hit the strings.

2. The Flexible Arrangement: We then transition seamlessly into Sarah’s incredible multi-level arrangement of Mattachins, which allows absolute beginners and advanced junior players to perform beautifully together.

When Sarah first saw the choreography, she noted that it creates total physical freedom for the upcoming down-bow swing, meaning early-stage players do not freeze up when they look at the music layout.

We have built this as a comprehensive, ready-to-use resource bundle complete with targeted play-along videos and colour-coded score sheets.
