A special Récoltant-Manipulant selection to open the evening.

V. Dauvissat Chablis La Forest 2001
"Highly aromatic nose combines white flowers, spices, licorice and lemon. Extremely young but already impressively perfumed in the mouth; its incisiveness comes more from minerality than from acidity. Another extremely young wine that offers superb length for a premier cru . . ." ~
90+, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous

E. Burn Riesling Goldert Clos Saint Imer La Chapelle 2000
"The intense aromatics of the 2000 Riesling Clos St.-Imer La Chapelle Goldert reveal liquid minerals. Medium-bodied, this silky-textured offering exhibits loads of ruby-red grapefruits, candied lemons, minerals, and pears. This [is] well-focused, concentrated, and long wine . . ." ~ 92, Pierre Rovani, The Wine Advocate

Margaux du Château Margaux 2009
The inaugural release of Château Margaux's acclaimed 3ème vin.

R. Chevillon Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles 2006
". . . brilliant in this vintage. The bouquet is deep and beautiful, as it offers up notes of red and black cherries, blood orange, cocoa, great minerality, woodsmoke and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, very pure and minerally, with great precision and depth, and a very long, tangy and ripely tannic finish. The tannins here are certainly substantial, but they are ripe and so buried in fruit that one might be tempted to drink this wine young, but for the snappy acidity that insists that gratification be deferred . . ."
~ 94, John Gilman, View From the Cellar

Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Koplen Vineyard 2005
". . . hasn't missed a beat, delivering rich, juicy, elegantly styled plum, black cherry and blackberry fruit. Subtle touches of spicy mineral mark the finish. Amazing persistence."
~ 97, James Laube, Wine Spectator

Kosta Browne Pinot Noir Kanzler Vineyard 2005
"There are restrained aromas here, yet the flavors build gracefully. Juicy, with vivid, layered wild berry, raspberry, cherry and floral scents. Deep, complex and ending with a laser-beam focus." ~ 96, James Laube, Wine Spectator

Delas Hermitage Les Bessards 2003
"The star of the lineup was the awesome 2003 Hermitage Les Bessards. Dense, pure and still gorgeously fresh, with blackcurrants, licorice, roasted meat and massive minerality, this full-bodied, layered and concentrated Hermitage is the real deal. Count yourself lucky if you have a few of these tucked into your cellar. It’s still an infant . . ."
~ 97, Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate

Château de la Maltroye Bourgogne Rouge 2002
". . . delicious and very pinot on the nose with rustic, complex and intense flavors that are classic Chassagne in style and character and this is as good as many villages wines." - Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

G. Barthod Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras 2001
"
Good full, bright red. Sweet aromas of candied griotte cherry, kirsch, and stone. Sweet, sappy and gripping, with excellent structure and strong mineral character contributing to the impression of inner-mouth energy. Vibrant red fruit flavors are lifted by herbal, peppery and floral nuances. Finishes with very firm tannins . . ." ~ 92+, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous

K Vintners Syrah Milbrandt Vineyard 2000
"Plump and velvety, with pretty red cherry and plum flavors on a fine-grained frame, echoing the fruit and a touch of pepper on the finish." Harvey Steiman, Wine Spectator

Harlan Estate 1997
". . . one of the greatest Cabernet Sauvignon-based wines I have ever tasted. A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the rest Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this enormously-endowed, profoundly rich wine must be tasted to be believed. Opaque purple-colored, it boasts spectacular, soaring aromatics of vanilla, minerals, coffee, blackberries, licorice, and cassis. In the mouth, layer after layer unfold powerfully yet gently. Acidity, tannin, and alcohol are well-balanced by the wine's unreal richness and singular personality. The finish exceeds one minute." ~ 100, Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate

Alain Voge Cornas Cuvée Vieilles Vignes 1995
"Medium-bodied, with velvety tannins and terrific acidity to keep it together. Offers excellent harmony and a symphony of flavors--grilled meat, mineral, spice, mocha, blackberry and black cherry. Suave as can be on the finish."
~ 92Per-Henrik Mansson, Wine Spectator

Bruno Giacosa Barolo Riserva Santo Stefano di Neive 1989
"The 1989 Barbaresco Riserva Santo Stefano is like a drug. Impossibly sweet, layered and silky on the palate, the 1989 is firing on all cylinders today. This is just about as good as it gets. Bruno Giacosa’s 1989s are among my favorite wines from anywhere in the world."
~ 98, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Jordan Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 1976
"When this wine was released in 1980 . . . tasters concluded it would not age. However . . . this amber edge-colored wine possesses ripe, herbal, black-cherry, curranty flavors, medium body, a silky texture . . ." ~ Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate
