#SoulBlast - The Women Gather - Celebration of Women's History Month - Afro-Futurism | March 7

This year UBBCP will celebrate the literature of Black women writers of AfroFuturism that include Octavia Butler, Nnedi Okorafor, N.K. Jemisin, Tomi Adeyemi, Tananarive Due, in addition to the artwork of Krista Franklin and Mirlande Jeana-Gilles.

The literary genre of Afrofuturism or AfricanFuturism is involved in its significant relationship rooted in the historical experience of the African Diaspora that offers radically different frameworks for understanding how society is formed and how it can operate. The program will explore the authors' work through their books: Nnedi Okarafor's Binti Trilogy, Who Fears Death; N.K. Jemisin's Broken Earth trilogy; Octavia Butler's Wild Seed; Tananarive Due's My Soul to Keep series and Tomi Adeyemi's Children of Blood and Bone.

UBBCP invites the public to come out and discover works by the award-winning authors and join in the conversations of how the written word influences the world will live in.
