In celebration of Black History Month, The Chocolate Nutcracker is a contemporary Nutcracker that celebrates African diaspora and world culture. We are thrilled to create a locally produced, African-American Nutcracker. Norma Jean Barnes is Artistic Director and Project Coordinator, along with choreography by Ms. Barnes, Aubrey Luttrell, Toddja Thornhill and Marlon Silva. The project is fiscally sponsored by The New Sun Rising with grant support from PA Council for the Arts, and The Heinz Endowments Small Arts Initiative. Through The Chocolate Nutcracker’s artistic process and performances, we hope to build bridges, celebrate life and spread joy!
