Women Against Abusive Relationships (WAAR) is a non-profit organization that brings awareness, education and prevention programs to the community-at-large in Allegheny County about the devastating effects that intimate partner violence has on all of us.  Since 2001 WAAR has serviced over 1700 women and teens via workshops and conferences throughout Allegheny County in schools, community centers, and churches.

Healing Space

Our Healing Space project has offered participants empowering activities that included Motivational Workshops; Healing through Creativity ArtShops; and Counseling referrals, if requested.

Healthy Teens Task Force

Teens are trained on the dynamics of healthy and unhealthy relationships and help us to develop educational programs to reach their peers. The performing, as well as, creative arts will be an integral part of educating youth about the negative effects of violence in relationships and what a healthy relationship looks like.

Frontline Social Service Providers
/Employers Training

We provide trainings to educate service providers and employers on how to support clients and employees who may be experiencing abuse. They also learn how domestic violence affects the workplace, i.e., decreased productivity, increased absenteeism, and higher health care costs.


MENS Group
(Men Embracing Nonviolence & Safety)

This program teaches men the nature of domestic violence; strategies for stopping abusive behavior; how to change attitudes and beliefs; and how to achieve equality in relationships. This is a Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh program.
