Join Pittsburgh-area journalists, students and others reading aloud passages from their favorite books — or just listen to the exciting tales — at the 28th annual African-American Read-In on Feb. 4

Hosted by the Pittsburgh Black Media Federation, the free event is part of a national initiative to promote literacy and diversity in literature during Black History Month. More than 1 million people nationwide will be participating in read-ins.
During the Pittsburgh read-in, attendees read aloud, to an audience of seated guests, two- to three-minute passages from books written by African-American, Caribbean and African authors.
The theme is "I Am Somebody."
Refreshments will be served.
To register as an audience member, RSVP at PghRead.Eventbrite.com by 10 a.m. Feb. 3.

Volunteer readers will sign up on a first-come,
first-served basis at the read-in Feb. 4.
The United Black Book Clubs of Pittsburgh and the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's Homewood branch partner to produce the annual read-in.
