The Vann Media Awards celebrate the best of print, broadcast, photography and online journalism coverage of the African-American community of Western Pennsylvania.
Also, three special awards will be presented at the ceremony:
• The Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to Harold Hayes, recently retired, veteran reporter at KDKA-TV.
• The Legacy Award will be presented to Debbie Norrell, lifestyle editor at the New Pittsburgh Courier and a former radio talk show host and anchor.
• The Literacy Champion Award will be presented to Lorena Amos, a retired English teacher, co-founder of the United Black Book Clubs of Pittsburgh and literacy advocate.
Bofta Yimam, anchor at WTAE-TV, and Damany Lewis, anchor at WPXI-TV, will co-host the Vann program.
