Subject: Unite for Recovery, Support SMART Volunteers!

Hello from SMART!

April is National Volunteer Month and here is one simple fact: SMART Recovery would not be able to function without the dedication of thousands of volunteers. No wonder we are constantly looking for ways to support our volunteers in their work alongside those struggling with addictions—we know how incredibly important they are!

We have decided to join SMART affiliates around the world for a fundraising campaign called Unite for Recovery (UFR). We are raising money to directly support our volunteers in the U.S. with training scholarships and other resource materials. UFR is organized around the idea of a walk which can include volunteers, participants, family members, friends, or others who support recovery. The goal is to “walk around the globe” by engaging people from dozens of countries in walking and other activities and eventually covering the 24,901 miles it would take to circle the globe. A long journey, but it begins with one step—your decision to participate.

Please note that there are many ways to participate in addition to daily walking. The important thing is to take part and show your support for those in recovery, and the volunteers who so wonderfully serve them. You can support your local team or individual celebrating their recovery by:

  • Offering a one-time donation

  • Getting together outdoors and taking a group walk on a single day

  • Gathering at a planned location in support of those who are walking for recovery

  • Riding your bike, wheelchair, or scooter throughout May

Please join us as we Unite for Recovery by signing up at: https://www.uniteforrecovery.org/

Thank you in advance for your consideration!
