Lots of not to be missed articles this month, including:

Florida, here we come!  Be sure to start making plans to attend the 2017 SMART Conference in beautiful Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on September 22-24. Lots of great topics are planned, and the networking with other volunteers is always a highlight!  See page 4 of the April issue for more details.

More research, hooray! The PAL study research has been released. Funded by the National Institutes of Health, the overall goal of the study was to determine differences in membership, group participation, cohesion and satisfaction, and SMART Recovery was one of the groups included in the study.  See page 10 for study outcomes, and check out page 13 where you'll find SMART's statement on the first meta-analysis of its Mutual Support Recovery Model.

April is Volunteer Month!
Volunteer, support training scholarships, or do both! 

Each April, we celebrate Volunteer Month to not only recognize the efforts of our thousands of dedicated volunteers, but also to encourage others to share in the rewarding experience of volunteering.

Volunteer Training Scholarships are available in April for those who qualify for financial assistance to cover the cost of the SMART Recovery Facilitator And Support Team (FAST) Training. More info: bit.ly/SMART_Training

Scholarships are available for:

     • local facilitators   
     • online facilitators
     • message board volunteers
     • chat room volunteers
     • other volunteers who may benefit from FAST Training.
